My Mornings

Well ... a goal anyways.

Catching UP

Feels like it's been forever since I've had the time to just sit and write.  We've done the chicken pox, first with the younger three then two weeks later with the oldest.  Next was Christmas, which was lovely but followed by DH and I having the tummy bug.  Not so fun.

Anyways, speaking of the DH ... he needs some sleep and my typing is keeping him awake.  BBL

The best gift

As we head rapidly into Christmas time, I guess it is a time when we start reflecting on the gifts we find within our lives.  Our oldest seems to be going through some sort of growth spurt that involves testing boundaries.  I’ve really been struggling to figure out exactly what he needs (including knowing the boundaries are real and there to stay).  After a particularly challenging day yesterday, DH took the kids for a walk in the paddock while I cooked dinner (which I managed to botch amazingly).  As they came home, I was given a wee bunch of flowers, clover, dandelions and wild daisies … with a little boy’s hug saying “You’ve been a bit sad Mama, these are for you.” No other bouquets, whether it was gift wrapped with orchids, tulips and roses, NOTHING can compare to that bouquet gift.  It’s currently sitting in pride of place on my window sill and I’m already getting sad about the thought of them wilting.  It’s so amazing to feel the unconditional gift of love that kids somehow bring with them – no matter how much we feel we fail.

Other gifts have been popping up in my life as well, especially the gift of friends and the amazing gift of time that they share so willingly with me.  I’m a bit of a talker – it helps me process and gets me moving.  I used do that with my writing, but that’s taken a bit of a backseat …  Back to the point – the unconditional giving of someone’s time to listen, to share with, to experience and learn with – it’s another gift that I am in awe of.

But as we head to Christmas – I do want to say that this year has been one where the gift of the CHRIST of CHRISTmas has been the biggest blessing of all.  Relearning and being taught that His mercies are new every morning and that it isn’t by our might or power, but only by His Spirit that we given the grace to stand.   Being taught that it isn’t in what I do or don’t do, not in the rules I keep or break, not in the being moral or immoral BUT that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

God the Father freely sent His own Son as a wee baby to this earth, so that 33 years later, He would lay His life down so that we might not be condemned but He in our place.  Mind boggling – yes … unbelievable – in our own strength yes BUT through faith granted to us the most amazing Christmas present ever.  I pray that if you aren’t aware of who this Christmas present is – that this Christmas He will be revealed to you.  Feel free to ask questions if you wish – I don’t have all the answers, but I will try and share what has been given to me.

Chicken Pox

Well, we're right in the middle of it.

I have to admit that watching my wee darlings go through it (and I know it's not a deathly illness or anything, and yes, it is good for the now to hopefully have immunity for life) I think I would go back and pay the $90 or so to get the vaccines.  Probably because I hate seeing them miserable and apart from dosing them up on Pamol and having lots of baths and painting with Calamine sessions - there isn't much you can do apart from ride it out.

Things I have learnt:
*  You can survive on minimal sleep - although a healthy dose of M&Ms and friends at the end of a telephone help
 *  Cornflour sticks to the bottom of the bath when you drain it
*  Calamine lotion is more like calamine liquid
* Pinetarsol smells just as yuck at nearly 30 as it did when I was 13 (I had the pox when I was 4 and then again when I was 13)
* The pox go EVERYWHERE
* Snuggles with children are wonderful
* Sea air is great for drying out the pox (we went to a deserted beach yesterday for the morning, it was amazing to just be out and in the fresh air).

Anyway ... baby awake, computer time over ...back to being Mama.

Sunday Thoughts

8But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
9Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
10Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
20That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

Yesterday was a chocolate kind of day.  Yanoo, the type where things just happen and you just NEED some chocolate.  And now I can't make the images do what I want ... never mind ... need to learn some more.
